Freight Management
The commercial side: what the customer asked for, what you agreed with the carrier, and what it costs.
Carrier rates change every few months, but a lot of planners still work out of spreadsheets. And late shipments? You often hear about them when the customer calls. SCM Champs is an SAP TM implementation partner with teams in the USA and India. We set up SAP TM so planning, shipping, tracking and freight payment all happen in one system, tied into your SAP S/4HANA or ECC.
Most transportation problems end up as freight spend nobody can explain. Here is where SAP TM helps.
SAP TM calculates expected transportation cost during planning, before a shipment goes out. Planners can compare cost per lane, carrier or customer up front. Result: You spot expensive lanes before you tender them.
Carriers get picked on cost, capacity, service and your own rules, not on habit. You end up paying less per load.
SAP TM builds freight settlement documents from the charges it worked out, and those feed carrier invoice checks in SAP MM. Wrong charges get caught before you pay them, which beats arguing about them later.
Loads, routes and stop order are planned around truck capacity, delivery times and product rules. That means fuller trucks and fewer trips.
Status updates come in from carriers, telematics or networks like SAP BN4L. If a truck is running late, you find out early enough to do something about it.
With SAP TM and SAP EWM linked, the warehouse stages and loads in the order transport planned. There’s less waiting around at the dock.
You already run S/4HANA and don't want transportation in a second system. No extra license needed for basic TM.

SAP stops mainstream maintenance in 2027, so plan the move early
The commercial side: what the customer asked for, what you agreed with the carrier, and what it costs.
The daily work: building loads, assigning carriers, and adjusting the plan when something changes.
Everything between the freight order and the carrier payment.
Shipment updates, event monitoring and reporting, so planners can see what's happening and act on exceptions.
Eight ways we work with clients on SAP TM. Most engagements start with one of the first three.
Freight units not consolidating · Too many freight orders being created · Freight orders splitting unexpectedly · Settlement not matching carrier invoices · Cockpit planning running too slowly · TM and EWM out of sync

Orders, deliveries and freight settlement flow between SAP TM and your ERP, with no data copies when TM is embedded in S/4HANA.
The hub whether embedded or side-by-side orders come in from the ERP,freight is planned and tendered & calculated charges go back for settlement.
Planned loads reach the warehouse ahead of time & loading confirmations flow back to SAP TM so plan matches what leaves the dock.
Freight cost carrier performance and on-time delivery dashboards built on live SAP TM data for logistics and finance teams.
SAP TM freight data is combined with finance the sales and warehouse data in one model so cost-to-serve & margin by lane become visible.
For mixed landscapes we build and monitor the interface layer including carrier EDI (204, 214, 210) for carriers who won't move to a portal.
We are specialist SAP TM and EWM partner, not a general SAP shop. Here's what that means for your project.
SCM Champs is a good fit if: you run SAP, transportation and warehouse need to work as one process, and you want a specialist team rather than a generalist SI.
We're probably not the right fit if: you run a non-SAP ERP with no plans to move, or you need a full-scope S/4HANA transformation across all modules
